|Frequently Asked Questions
How many can go on the boat? The Captain and boat are licensed to carry up to six passengers. However, we will book a trip with a minimum of two.
Is fishing gear included? Everything you need to fish with is provided. For trolling, we will use 6'6" Penn Special Senator rods with Penn 309 level wind reels as well as 6'6" and 7' Shakespeare Ugly Stick Tiger rods with Penn 330 GTI level wind reels. For light tackle, we will use 6' Shakespeare Ugly Stick rods with Penn 4500 Spinning reels and 6'6" Shakespeare Ugly Stick rods with Shakespeare 40 spinning reels. However, if you have that special lucky rod and reel that you would like to bring, please do so and we will try and accommodate you.
What should I bring? The Miss Molly is equipped for fishing, however it is suggested to you bring the following:
- Lunch and beverage in your own cooler
- Camera, Binoculars and Sunglasses (polarized if possible)
- Sun block or lotion
- Extra clothes and rain gear to suit the weather
What should I wear? Dress comfortably and be prepared to be out in the weather. It is suggested that you wear rubber soled shoes or sneakers. In spring and fall, when the water temperature is cooler, be prepared for colder temperatures. Regardless of the time of the year, it is always a good idea to have enough clothing to protect you from the wind and temperature. A hat is advisable as sun protection.
Do I need to have a fishing license? The captain and boat are fully licensed for all the fishing that is done.
Are children welcome? Absolutely! One of the greatest enjoyments is to take a child fishing. For safety reasons, children under 10 will be required to wear a vest type PFD.
How do I pay? After you request a charter, a confirmation letter with contact information will be mailed to you. That should be completed and returned as soon as possible with a $100.00 deposit to hold the date. With the receipt of the confirmation and deposit, a bill for the remaining balance will be sent. This must be paid in full before the boat leaves the dock.
If something comes up and I cannot go, will I get my money back? If something comes up and you have to cancel, a full refund will be given if we have at least seven days notice. If you notify us with less than seven days, we will give a full refund if we can rebook the trip with another party. If we cannot book another party, a full refund minus the $100.00 deposit will be given.
Will we still go if the weather is bad? Safety and comfort are the first considerations when deciding to leave the dock. If the weather is bad, the captain may cancel the trip. The decision will be made as early as possible in an attempt to avoid unnecessary travel. If this occurs, you will have an opportunity to reschedule the trip at the earliest convenient date or get a full refund of any money already paid.
Is there a bathroom on board? There are toilet facilities forward in the V berth with a door to ensure privacy.
When should we arrive at the marina? You should plan to be at the boat at least 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled departure time. Standard departure times are on the Rates & Dates page for Full Day and Half Day trips. Custom Cruises departure time will be determined when the cruise date is reserved.
What fishing techniques will we use? For rockfish and bluefish, we will probably be trolling. However, we will also do some chumming and other bottom fishing if the situation warrants. It just depends on the type of fish we are going after, the time of year, and other conditions.
What do we do with the fish that we catch? We will keep the legal limit and release the rest. When we get back to the dock, if possible, the captain or mate will fillet and bag the fish for you.
Should we tip the mate? The mate works for tips. The mate works hard to provide you with an enjoyable, safe day of fishing. 15% to 20% is an appropriate tip for a great day of fishing.
