Captain John Sharp's Corner - Chesapeake Bay Fishing News & Reports

Winter 2016

Posted on February 18, 2016 by Captain John Sharp

It is hard to believe, but this report starts the tenth year of the Capt's Corner. When I reflect about all of the trips, experiences, and people over the last decade, I can't help but think about how lucky I have been to be able to experience this marvelous enterprise. How many people can say that they have had the opportunity to not only fish and travel on the Chesapeake Bay, (one of the most beautiful places anywhere), but also meet and get to know hundreds of customers, many of whom come back year after year. Indeed, many customers have turned into lifelong friends. I am truly thankful for all of this.
Now, once again, we are moving into the spring of the year and the beginning of the next season. As we have done so many times before, the schedule will start to get very busy with preparations: the boat, the fishing gear and tackle, and advertising. I can honestly say, that no matter how many times I do this, the excitement and anticipation remain the same. Fishing season is only two months away. I cant wait.

Spring and Summer

Posted on August 19, 2015 by Captain John Sharp

Wow! I am not sure how fast time flies, but I can hardly believe that we are halfway through the season!. The trophy season was thoroughly enjoyable, despite the slot restriction. Once again in May and June, we had some great fishing days catching those 20 - 30" fish trolling everything from tsunamis to bucktails. Over the summer, the fishing has been better above the bridge, and despite the fact that the juvenile spot are not as prevalent, there have been some great days live lining. I expect that we will continue to live line as long as we can get the spot. Before we know it, the fall will be here and we will be adjusting our fishing strategies again. As always, it is great fun!
