Summer to October

Posted on October 17, 2014 by Captain John Sharp

Where does the year go? It seems like we just started fishing a few weeks ago, and now we are closing in on the last two months of the season. It just goes to show that time does fly when you are having fun! As it seems like I say every year, it has been pretty good overall. Also, as usual, we certainly did have our share of days when the fish were not cooperating. But once again, those days blur into the background with memories of all the great fishing days and good times we have since the spring.
Live lining is pretty much over, and for the last few weeks, we have gone back to trolling. The rock are following the bait out into the main part of the bay now and are schooling up nicely. Although the big fish have yet to return, the fish we are catching are for the most part, fat hand healthy. October can also bring some beautiful weather. I am really looking forward to fishing over the next few weeks. By mid November, hopefully, the bigger migratory fish will be back. We always look forward to ending the season going after these big fish.

April and the trophy season

Posted on May 15, 2014 by Captain John Sharp

The 2014 trophy season ended today. Without a doubt, it was a great time for fishing. We have taken alot of trips in the last 25 days and had some great success. We limited out on many and came within one or two fish of the limit on many more. Indeed, it was a great time. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the great fishing and excellent company.
Now the second season is upon us. The bigger fish will be leaving the bay, but those that are not yet ready to migrate will start to appear. The limit is now two per person and more areas of the bay are open for fishing. We will continue to troll for the next few weeks, but may be live lining by the end of June. I really enjoy this time of year because the fish will start to school up and the action can be fast and furious. Plus, it is May and June, two of the most beautiful times of year to be on the water. I am excited to continue!!
